i am turning the comments feature back on for this blog. it is beginning to feel like a one-way dialog, and some people have exhibitionist tendencies (what do you think this blog is?) that need a relief valve. i will of course participate in comment discussions, but i reserve the right to completely ignore any and all comments.

I didn't mind being a strict voyeur without the option of commenting.

You will hear from me -- as you might expect to.

Remember: age has its privileges --- and virtues. In some societies, age is even respected. [One can't ask for too much -- can one?]

And I just love the reminder of openness & "free speech" listed below my comment box where it says: "All comments must be approved by the blog author."

What is this -- "Bush-Rove West"?

That's about enough for now. We'll see how much gets past the censor.

And be careful. There may be a hidden, secret message in my words above. [Go to the 3rd word and count every fourth word. The first letter of these words spells out where the "treasure" is hid.]

thanks, mike. i always appreciate undemanding brevity.

john, you should really get a blog of your own. i'm serious. you seem to really love posting things online. it's not difficult - i'll even set it up for you.

I'm not ready for that full exposure yet.

Besides...... it's not that I love posting things on a blog so much as I love keeping in touch with you -- and you've provided a mechanism. so here I be!! :)

Also, if I engaged in all things that I enjoyed -- I'd be in serious trouble. Temperance is the word.

that doesn't make sense. you could just as easily write me an email in private. instead, you get really excited about conversing with me in public? this is as full as the exposure gets. this is all being indexed by google, and the whole world can see it and judge every word.

and before you say it, i DO answer my emails.

Perhaps my email program is filtering out messages or the Sudanese gov't is blocking things again......

What do you mean: "Before you say it, I DO answer my e-mails.???"

See, here's one of the reasons why I don't like blogs. A person can expose himself to the whole word by making a stupid (well, maybe not stupid --- but less than smart) statement.

You assumed that I was going to say that you never answer your e-mails. I did NOT say (or even think) that. You do answer your e-mails -- FROM ME -- in a very timely and reasonable manner.

However, you said (for all the world to see & hear: "I DO answer my e-mails." What is true for me [JAC] may not be true for others? I write you an e-mail and I get a response. That proves you DO answer your e-mails...... However, someone else sends you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or more e-mails and you do NOT answer your e-mails.... That proves you do NOT answer your e-mails.

So, my personal bias is to correspond via e-mails and thus I will not have a blog. [Can I say "NEVER"!!!???] ... But, since you choose to have a blog, and since I choose to like (even love) you, I respond via your chosen format --- for all the world to see.

In closing I say: I DO answer my e-mails and I DO respond to blog questions and queries.

This discussion sounds like something I would have with a philosopher not an economist. But what's the difference? See you around.... Luv, JAC
