day 20; mile 002696

a short pedagogic drama about where to travel next
(transcribed from an original event)
Outside Memphis, Tennessee, 102 degrees and humid like a bowl of steaming soup. A VW bus with no air conditioning. Current direction: south.
Christie:'s hot.
Nate: Yeah.
Nate: Let's drive north now. Sometimes it's cooler up there.
Christie: Yeah. Let's turn around.
This play has been brought to you by Ozora Improvisational Presentations, a non-profit service providing you with realtime nonfiction dramatizations.

Aw, c'mon! Don't get soft of us! .... I'm tooling around in a 1983 Isuzu Trooper in the middle of the A/C either. Rain is coming so it's humid, too. Try having that improv with only one person, though........!

guys, you're thoroughly fabulous. oddly enough, i'm actually working on a performance piece at the moment comprised of various vignettes from conversations i overhear and participate in on a daily basis. for example, there's a comparison of the various believability factors and convenience merits of chitty-chitty-bang-bang vs. the batmobile vs. kit the night rider car vs. the green lantern's hoverthingy. there's also a conversation detailing what attributes are actually necessary to constitute a "gay boy shoe"... you get the idea. the opening scene of the piece goes as follows.

jes: it'll be composed of... you know... scenes... skits... snippets-

cassie: (interrupting) vignettes.

jes: (slapping knee emphatically)

james: (in a singsong voice) vignettes, vignettes, vignettes... vignetty-vignettes...

so i wish you cool breezes on humid days, interesting detours, safe drivin', and quality beverages.

p.s. hi nate!
